Carmine Therapeutics is an Esco Ventures X company pioneering a powerful new class of drugs based on engineered red blood cell extracellular vesicles (RBCEVs). Founded by Esco Ventures and Professors Harvey Lodish, Minh Le, and Jiahai Shi, Carmine focuses on developing a therapeutic platform that would address unmet needs related to the delivery of next-generation therapeutics such as nucleic acid-based therapies. Carmine was awarded the 2019 Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Golden Ticket to LabCentral (Cambridge, MA), and is well-capitalized to develop first-in-class therapies against genetic diseases. Carmine is based both in Cambridge, MA as well as Singapore.

The Biology Team in Cambridge, Massachusetts is looking for an In Vivo Scientist to join us on this exciting journey. Ideal candidates will have solid scientific research background with extensive laboratory experience involving animal models and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This candidate will be expected to work productively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment with her/his team members.


  • Design in vivo studies for preclinical and exploratory research

  • Execute in vivo studies and analyze tissue samples

  • Prepare and characterize biological samples for in vivo studies

  • Perform routine injections on mice, monitor animal health, and collect tissue samples

  • Perform flow cytometric and imaging analyses of in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro samples

  • Document, analyze, and interpret experimental data in a timely manner

  • Manage and coordinate with CRO for outsourced preclinical activities

  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in ELN

  • Prepare oral presentations and communicate results in internal team meetings


  • Extensive experience with rodent in vivo studies, including animal handling, performing routine injections (SC, IV, IP, IT), necropsy, collection of blood and tissues

  • Hands-on experience with ELISA/MSD, western blot, flow cytometry, IHC, RNA expression methods

  • Experience in performing in vitro assays with cell lines

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in all common office and scientific software

  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members

Preferred Skills

  • Expertise with murine intravenous injections

  • Experience in primary cell culture

  • General molecular cloning techniques

  • Research experience in gene therapy and genome editing


  • Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology, immunology, virology, or any related discipline

  • Prior industry experience preferred
