Description

Carmine Therapeutics is an EVX Ventures company pioneering a powerful new class of drugs based on

engineered red blood cell extracellular vesicles (RBCEVs). Founded by EVX Ventures and Professors

Harvey Lodish, Minh Le, and Jiahai Shi, Carmine focuses on developing a therapeutic platform that

would address unmet needs related to gene therapies. Carmine, a 2019 Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Golden

Ticket winner and a 2020 Fierce 15 winner, is well-capitalized to develop first-in-class therapies against

genetic diseases. Carmine is based both in Cambridge, MA as well as Singapore.


The Biology Team is looking for a (Senior) Research Associate to join us in this exciting journey. An ideal

candidate is one who is independent, motivated, technically competent, and able to work efficiently in a

team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop molecular assays to support payload optimization

  • Execute molecular biology experiments to generate payload for RBCEV delivery

  • Support preparation of engineered red blood cell extracellular vesicles (RBCEVs)

  • Perform cell culture experiments to characterize RBCEVs

  • Analyze and interpret experimental data

  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation including electronic lab notebook

  • Manage an organized laboratory environment ensure smooth day-to-day operations

  • Prepare and present research findings internally

Requirements

  •  Laboratory experience with general molecular biology techniques, including bacterial

  • transformation, plasmid isolation and plasmid manipulation

  •  Hands-on experience with generating plasmid constructs

  •  Excellent organizational skills and being able to multitask

  •  Excellent oral and written communication skills

  •  Ability to work collaboratively with team members



Preferred skills:

  •  Cell culture experience

  •  Experience with ddPCR and qPCR



Qualification:

  •  B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline with prior laboratory research experience

  •  M.S. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline
